Grammarly review: Revise a work message without changing the commitment

The short version

A useful starting point

Consider Grammarly for selective revision of messages whose facts and commitments are already defined.

A good fit if…

People writing recurring workplace messages and short documents.

Look elsewhere if…

You expect polished wording to verify facts or decide what you should promise.

A polished sentence can still promise the wrong thing. Grammarly is a candidate when you already know what a message must say and want assistance with its wording. The evaluation should ask whether editing preserves the facts, responsibility and limits of the original message, not simply whether the result sounds more confident.

Use assistance around a defined message

Grammarly documents proofreading and paraphrasing tools. These can contribute to revision, but the writer still decides which suggestions fit the situation. Before submitting work material, check where the tool is active and whether the account and data settings are appropriate for that content. Use a non-sensitive example for the first evaluation.

Keep the meaning in view

For a hypothetical customer update, write down the promised delivery date, the remaining uncertainty and who will contact the customer. Compare the edited version against those three facts. A change from hoping to finish to promising completion is a material change even if the revised sentence is shorter and easier to read.

Review modal words such as may, will and must, along with dates, quantities and named owners. Also check that a request has not become an instruction or that a courteous refusal has not become an agreement. The person sending the message owns those decisions; a writing suggestion should not silently make them.

Accept changes selectively

Handle language mechanics separately from changes in tone or structure. You may accept a correction while rejecting an alternative that removes useful detail. For recurring messages, keep a short list of terms and commitments that should remain stable. This helps reviewers explain why a fluent suggestion is unsuitable without treating every edit as a matter of personal preference.

Measure the review effort

Prepare several ordinary messages and one containing a deliberate ambiguity. Record which suggestions help, which alter meaning and which still need your judgment. Evaluate the final text in the application where it will be sent. Choose Grammarly when the assistance reduces revision work while leaving a reliable way to inspect the commitments you are making.
