The short version
A useful starting point
Consider Synthesia for task-based training videos tied to approved, versioned source material.
A good fit if…
Teams maintaining onboarding or instructional video libraries.
Look elsewhere if…
You expect document conversion to decide which instructions are important or correct.
A policy document and a useful training video have different structures. Synthesia is a candidate when a team wants to turn approved source material into a repeatable video lesson. The important work is deciding what the learner should do, which evidence supports the instruction and how the video will be updated later.
The documented creation options
Synthesia describes video drafts from documents or prompts, avatar presenters and translation tools. These capabilities can help assemble a first version. They do not remove the need to select the relevant source passages or verify that a generated script preserves the conditions and exceptions in the original material.
Build around a learner task
For a hypothetical internal onboarding lesson, choose one task and identify the approved instructions that govern it. Write a short scenario, show the action and include a way for the learner to check the result. Avoid converting every paragraph into narration simply because the source document contains it.
Keep an evidence map between script sections and the source version. If a policy changes, that map helps the maintainer find the affected scenes. Separate an illustrative example from an actual rule, and retain important exceptions instead of removing them to make the narration sound simpler.
Treat each language as a reviewable version
If you use translation, assign a capable reviewer for the language and subject matter. Inspect terminology, dates and instructions in the final audiovisual output. A fluent translation can still refer to a process that differs for the target audience. Keep the applicable source and review status with each version rather than assuming approval of one language covers all others.
Evaluate maintenance as well as creation
Use a permitted sample lesson and rehearse a small change to one instruction. Check the revised script, visuals, captions and exported video. Ask a learner to complete the task and identify where the lesson did not supply enough information. Choose Synthesia when the creation and update workflow supports that maintained learning artifact, with current account capabilities and usage costs that fit the project.

Review scope
This review uses the linked official product documentation and editorial analysis. We have not run a hands-on product test or measured accuracy. Suggested exercises describe how to evaluate your own workflow. Plan access and data settings should be confirmed for the account you intend to use. Sources checked on 2026-10-24.
Strengths
- Document-based drafts and presenter tools can support a maintained lesson workflow.
Limitations
- Source exceptions, translated meaning and later revisions need explicit review.
